Locals and visitors come up here to explore the many off-road trails and dirt roads into the mountains. Red Rock is a great place for mountain climbing and a nice place for a visit but it's not a very big place. Of course, this is also the place where Rangers and Flight For Life visit quite often to save the life of hikers and climbers who get hung-up on the sides of perilous cliffs.

Red Rock Canyon is pretty in its own way, and of course red with big red rocks but just an OK place to go on wheels for a brief moment. However, the largest beauty that can be found in Red Rock Canyon is on foot, not in the seat of a rental car or over-crowded bus, still otherwise beauty is their and people like myself who are drawn to it will enjoy it, regardless of just how brief that visit may be.

It's beyond me why they suffocate people for the entrance fee of one particular 13 mile road, which is about the only road you can drive on. Best we can figure.... as always, greed. I've been making this trip for over 50 years and when I see the line of cars, motorcycles and buses have to wonder why and the answer lays in the fact that Las Vegas markets everything they can to draw people in. There's a time to be at Red Rock Canyon and a time not to be found anywhere in the area. There's a time to take photos at Red Rock Canyon and a time when you know you've wasted your time.

As far as motorcycle roads go, Red Rock Canyon isn't going to be one of the most memorable places to visit in your life, nor life changing but it's pretty for about an hour or so. We therefore don't hire-out as a guide for Red Rock Canyon, we've been kindly informed that we cannot do this without being bled for additional FEES to the greed-planners at the BLM and are now being policed (Welcome to the corporation now called America).

Ken sharing a cup of coffee at Red Rock Canyon. Ken was a ton of fun and having a great time on this trip. Ken is an attorney who rides a Gold Wing at home in Florida and thoroughly introduced us to the intricacies of it. We were amazed at what hi knew about riding the Gold Wing and 35 years of experiences he shared along the way. He shared the story of the Yellow Gold Wing (Opens New Window) who slue the Little Dragon in (NC) with an Iron Butt in 24 hours, an amazing task - 1,000 Miles back and forth.

Red Rock Canyon is amazing during right time of the day. As you can see, we pretty much owned the place.

This particular photo provides a depth of beautiful rock layers at one of the stops.

Ken was telling us that from his perspective the rugged landscapes, mountains and rolling valleys which can be seen in some shots below was just what he wanted to see!
