About the Desert High Plains - Multiday Tour

The High Desert Plains Tour originates out of Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a guided motorcycle tour taking us into the Lincoln County Area inside Spring Valley Recreation Area:

This run takes through a gradual relief of the Mojave Desert into the High Plains Desert of Nevada, then to Southern Utah. This is a tour for the adventurous rider. What's the difference between Nevada high desert and Nevada mountains? Mostly, the foliage, ground cover and trees. For example.

In Mount Charleston (Below) is a photo of the acres of noble evergreen forests and the trees are pretty thick and tall. As big as they are, they are nothing compared to Oregon where you can hardly walk between them.

Below is the type of trees and ground cover found in Nevada high desert.

Day 1 - 210 Miles: We'll head towards Eagle Valley in Southern Nevada, enjoying the ride through older towns supporting silver mining and older train stations. A beautiful drive that we've been making for many years and we know you'll enjoy it. We'll pass by dairy farms, meadows, streams, lake beds, cow pastors, mountains and prairies. This could be a problem if there aren't any rooms to book IN Eagle Valley but we do have nearby towns that could be an option. For us... we like staying in Meadow Valley or Camping :)

Day 2 - Around 174 Miles: Most of the day we'll be traveling to Bryce Canyon, where we'll also spend the morning of our 3rd day. Prior to our arrival we'll enjoy a ride through wilderness twisties and steady climbs to a 9600 ft summit with sweeping curves of all kinds including cork screws. Much breath taking beauty is to be enjoyed on this 2nd day of travel across the high plains desert tour.

Day 3 - 265 Miles or So :) We'll start the day with breakfast then a drive down to Bryce Canyon Point. Bryce Point is one of the numerous small overlooks that allows for great pictures from just about every angle of the hoodoos without driving clear down to the furthest point. Bryce is a palace of un-equaled color and beauty, rock and trees, valleys and canyons, parks and camp grounds.

Bryce Canyon is more of a place that can be enjoyed in the early to late summer months and early fall and is way too cold during winter months for motorcycles. During summer months when the time of day is extended, it proves to be a gift so we can get our best photographs. By the time we reach Bryce the Sun will be close to setting and dinner time.

The ride through Utah's Scenic Parks such as Cedar Breaks and Bryce Canyon have a splendor about it unlike anywhere else in the world. Of course with this much beauty requires time to enjoy it and is one of the reasons we have to balance travel miles so we'll have time for plenty of pictures.

Roads travel through a landscape ranging from 4,000 feet to 8,800 feet. On the course of these 3 days, 40% of our travel will be over regions of 5,000 ft.
