Breakfast at launch, then North East down I-15 from Las Vegas
for three days and two nights!
The Rider/The Tour: The participant of this motorcycle
tour should be at least an intermediate rider, with a few
thousand miles under his/her belt.
We're going to have a nice
time, we'd like to have friendly riders join us.
This guided motorcycle road
trip starts off from Las Vegas and will visit many popular
cities and roads over the course of three days and two nights of
Southern Nevada and Utah. Yes, we will see the famous Zion
National Park, Bryce Canyon, and unusual scenery of Eagle Valley
in Nevada. No, this Nevada / Utah adventure isn't the one going
to the Grand Canyon. This particular tour crosses some desert
areas of Nevada and Utah and requires a sense of adventure and a
pioneer spirit.
Day 1 - Around 210 Miles: We'll
head towards
Eagle Valley in Nevada, enjoying the ride through older
towns supporting silver mining and train stations such as
Alamo, Caliente Nevada and others. A beautiful drive that we've
been making for many years and we know you'll enjoy it. We'll
pass by dairy farms, meadows, streams, lake beds, cow pastors,
mountains and prairies. This could be a problem if there aren't
any rooms to book IN Eagle Valley but we do have nearby towns
that could be an option. For us... we camp :)
Day 2 - Around 174 Miles: Most
of the day we'll be traveling to
Bryce Canyon, where
we'll also spend the morning of our 3rd day. Prior to our
arrival we'll enjoy a ride through wilderness twisties and
steady climbs to about 9600 ft from Cedar Canyon with sweeping
curves of all kinds including cork screws. Much breath taking
beauty is to be enjoyed on this 2nd day of travel.
Day 3 - 265 Miles or So :) We'll
start the day with breakfast then a drive down to Bryce Canyon
Point. Bryce Point is one of the numerous small overlooks that
allows for great pictures from just about every angle of the
hoodoos without driving clear down to the furthest point. Bryce
is a palace of un-equaled color and beauty, rock and trees,
valleys and canyons, parks and camp grounds. Bryce Canyon is
more of a place that can be enjoyed in the hotter months from
Vegas and for days at a time and is way too cold during winter
months for motorcycles. During summer months when the time of
day is extended, it proves to be a gift so we can get our best
photographs. By the time we reach Bryce the Sun will be close to
setting and time dinner. This drive through Utah's Scenic Parks
such as Cedar Breaks and Bryce Canyon have a splendor about it
unlike anywhere else in the world. Of course with this much
beauty requires time to enjoy it and is one of the reasons we
have a great balance of travel miles so we'll have time for
plenty of pictures. Roads travel through a landscape ranging
from 4,000 feet to 8,800 feet and will challenge the best of
riders. On the course of these 3 days, 40% of our travel will be
over regions of 5,000 ft traveling to
Zion
National Park. Zion
is an amazing sort of beauty that is untiring both for riders
and guides. It's a short ride, usually slow because of traffic
through the area. If your on a Harley, you'll love blowing some
steam and listening to the echo when heading through the 1.1
mile tunnel that was built some seventy years ago. It took ten
years to build, when complete allowed a direct path from
Zion
National Park to the North rim of the Grand Canyon.
There lays a negative side of
Zion. Aside from the cost to get in, one of the better touring
roads have been closed to the public (sortof) unless you're staying at
area hotels to get a pass. There are no secondary roads to enjoy
and few places to pull off the roads that aren't jammed with
cars for photos. I guess we'll just have to grin and bear it.
